Ambergard

Greetings and Welcome Good Gentles All, to the Shire of Ambergard. We are a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (more commonly referred to as the SCA). We are located in Grant County Washington.

The SCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the research and recreation of the customs and cultures of the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods. It focuses on Western Culture but it is not limited to it. Our time period that we endeavor to recreate is from 600 to 1600 A.D.

Your next question may be What is an Anachronism? An anachronism is something that is taken out of its proper time and place. (Such as what many of us do, e.g. pretending to be in the 16th century while really living in the 21st century or having a 9th century Roman persona living in a 16th century French pavillion.)

Within the society is the Shire of Ambergard, located in the Kingdom of An Tir, which translates into "Our Land". The Shire of Ambergard was first formed in 1985 (A.S., or Anno Societatis, time within the society).

We hold the first war of the season every March, called the Oasis War, here in our Shire, as well as a Harvest celebration feast in October!

If you are new to the SCA or to the area, or if you are planning on visiting us, you may want to start by contacting one of our local officers (see Officers' page for more details)
